I found an abandoned house in the middle of the woods, and ventured inside with my camera. It was pretty spooky, but no signs of anything sinister.

Yes, I donned shoes for this one. I entered through the basement and climbed the stairs to the first floor, which contained nothing but bricks, crumbling plaster, and old birds' nests. I didn't attempt a climb to the second floor because that staircase was too rotted out. But I'd imagine more of the same. Or maybe bodies.

Looks like a pretty sturdy timber structure, well built house, probably quite nice at one time. Too far gone to do anything with it now, maybe some rustic lumber to salvage though. How long do you think it's been empty? Looks like 40 years at least.

A lot of houses in the area were abandoned, repaired, or rebuilt after the heavy storm season in '72, so that's probably a very accurate guess.

Old abandoned houses are cool. When you pull down the plaster and lath walls, there's *real* 2x4's in there.

And a lot of the timber used is old growth, almost clear, wood. Makes a closet furniture maker salivate.
